After completing a more than $100 million expansion and renovation in 2021, Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort announced earlier this year that it would extend the thoroughbred racing season to 66 days, adding the month of December to the calendar. This was big news for both horsemen and race fans and increased the race season by 9 days from the season prior.
For the 2021-22 racing season, races begin on December 3 and run until May 8. The Arkansas Derby will be held on April 2, 2022 with a purse of $1,250,000. The full schedule for the 2021-22 racing season is posted here.
