What to Do in Hot Springs During the Winter

From early November to early March, the lake levels on Lake Hamilton are lowered by approximately 3 to 5 feet and the pool at the La Guna Shores Lake House is closed for the winter.

While some outdoor activities are not available during this time, there is still plenty to do in Hot Springs and at the La Guna Shores Lake House. Here are just some suggestions:

  • Visit the horse races at Oaklawn Racing Casino or try your luck on the casino floor
  • Try your best to beat the clock in the escape rooms at A Narrow Escape
  • Fish from the shores of Lake Hamilton. Buy bait and supplies at Trader Bills
  • Take in the marvelous holiday light displays at Garvan Woodland Gardens (late Nov to Dec 31)
  • Enjoy eating at any one of Hot Springs’ great restaurants. We supply a guest guide to our guests that includes many of our favorites
  • Plan a spa day at one of the two operational bathhouses on Bathhouse Row: The Quapaw Bath & Spa or the Buckstaff Bathhouse. Or the spa at Oaklawn’s hotel
  • Sit in front of the gas fire pit while enjoying the incredible views of the lake
  • Challenge your family or friends to a game of pool or air hockey at the La Guna Shores Lake House
  • Or just relax, read a good book or watch a movie
The lake levels are lowered. While the dock is inaccessible, guests can still access the lake for kayaking, paddle boarding and fishing.
